Marilyn has been the head honcho of Glamor , beauty , style and Grace for decades. If you haven't heard of her check to see if you have a pulse because you cant be alive Ha-Ha. But she never particularly moved me in anyway , well until i seen this picture of coarse. I love this picture of her so much . Not only is she gorgeous but she's SO CURVY! i didnt understand what type of body she had until i seen this picture. IT just represents Grace and elegance and im amazed and i can say now officially that i am now too inspired by Marilyn . (:

Community/Local News
Times Herald
Dear Mr. Banes,
What motivates kids today? We all know in the past years it was the videos on TV, actresses, singers and celebrities. The superficial and get rich quick schemes gave them thrill and inspiration but what about a feel of stability? In 2011 teens and pre teens are not the same. They have been through tragedies and have experienced devastation and heartbreak. They are using more personal and intrinsic motivation to jump start their careers and life goals. They are realizing there is more satisfaction and meaning to their lives when they reach and strive for their goals for a personal, special, and more in depth causes. The money and celerity “Bling – Bling” just isn’t enough today. They are definitely making a statement.
I would like this to be on the front page of the community section. The picture would have four teens holding something that represents their motivation in their hand. If not, I would like just one teen standing with a faded shot of their “Sample of motivation” in the background, whether it be a picture, a piece of jewelry, or any type of memorabilia they have.
This story is not just any random idea but really hit home for me. As a preteen I lost my father so I made the decision that from now on everything I did was dedicated and inspired by my father and family. I can completely relate to the topic, so I could add personal reference to my story of tragedy in my adolescences. I also have the permission to interview the specialist of youth development at the Vallejo, Ca Omega’s Boys and Girl’s Club Essex Cook. I am allowed to interview the preteens and teens in attendance of the program with the permission of their parents or guardians. This will most certainly be an inspiring and interesting topic. I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,

The Defense to my Passion
Throughout your life your dream profession comes in phases. When you’re small you like to color so you say “Daddy I’m going to be an artist”, or if you like to sing “mommy I’m going to be a famous singer”. Then you become older and you put your career in bigger perspectives. “Dad I’m going to be a doctor” or “mom I want to become a lawyer”. You even go through a phase where you consider letting your parents recommend what your career should be. As you sit and think about the path your going down your soon realize that these things are not what you really want do and a new question forms “What do I want to do with my life?” And my answer to that is what do you have a passion and love for? That was my predicament a year ago as I founded my new love Profession fashion Journalism. Writing has never just been a hobby of mine it was more of a part of me as a limb or an organ, the love could never be detached or a piece of me went missing. Fashion just comes along with the exciting and amazing lifestyle I want to live. It’s hard to hear someone discourage something you love to do especially when the person needs this source just as much as you do.
Let’s be honest, Fashion is something that The World needs not just the people who make it , take pictures of it and write about it. Fashion Journalism is way more then writing about clothes, an outfit can say 10x more words then me writing an article can. For example, you’re at a job interview and a man come in with a nice suit well kept hair and shiny dress shoes. That says to the employer “he dresses well I’m interested to hear more about him”. Now take a man with ripped baggy jeans, dirt all over them and a ripped college tee looking for a job. Well for one, He’s already displaying bad hygiene with the dirt on his pants and two his outfit doesn’t say to the employer that I’m professional enough to have this job. The Employer determined that 9 times out of 10 before the job seeker even said one word. The outfit spoke and a bad first impression was made. Fashion is a lifestyle like that of music, business, and fine art. It is art that could be favored, interpreted, and made to fit anyone. Fashion brings confidence to the insecure and creativity to the closed mind. It shows the world how bold, sophisticated, and conservative a woman can be with the curves on her body or how strong, professional, or suave a man could be in his personality.
Fashion Journalism embraces these thoughts in the physical form of writing. It informs and helps people in ways such as to how their clothes speak to the world, how what they wear can give them more confidence and beauty, helps you look your best for less , helps the plus size woman find things that flatters her body , how woman could were colors that brings out her eyes and period just help make them look like a better person and feel better at the same time. So we are here to help you and at the same time live out our passion.

Rising Designer and Publicist : Monique Brown
Age: 24

Profession: Stylist / Designer
For my interview I chose a friend of mine who is a fashion graduate and is into designing personal styling and Public relations. She is a young artist trying to get her personal business off the ground. She was very intriguing to me because she shared similar qualities in fashion. Her style is similiar to mine.
A: What is a day like to be Ms Monique Brown?
M: Actually just recently they started to get hectic, I been doing
A lot of sketches lately and adding on to my portfolio as far as designing.Styling is so much fun. I been working for this charity ran out of La

Just to lend that hand of glamour you know?
A: When and how did you get into fashion?
M: It’s funny I just picked up the passion for fashion in
high school .A lot of people are like “well I have been into
fashion my whole life.” Um not me I was a freshman in

for my younger siblings.
A: When did you decide you wanted to turn fashion into a profession?
M: I believe my senior year. When FIDM attended one
of my classes and informed us I could get paid for shopping,
traveling, and making clothes. After that I was like sign me up!
I think I signed the Contact list twice haha
A: How would you describe your designs?
M: I love how certain fabrics can drape and flatter a woman’s
Body perfectly.I make very silohoutte type designs. i love chic
stlyes and Casual ware. I havent started formal wear yet tho
. I could definitley see my self designing beautiful gowns.
A: What will we be seeing from you in the future?
M: right now im planning on opening and starting my own boutique/ House

Royal Dress causes Uproar
Dress designed by Alexander McQueen
Homage: The new Duchess of Cambridge's bridal gown mirrored the one worn by Grace Kelly for her 1956 wedding to Ranier III of Monaco. Like Catherine, she was a commoner who married into royalty
Black speaks up in Fashion Journalism
Robin Givhan (born 1965) is the former fashion editor for The Washington Post. She left The Washington Post in 2010 and is is now the fashion critic and fashion correspondent for The Daily Beast and News Week. She won the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for criticism, the first such time for a fashion writer. The Pulitzer Committee explained its rationale by noting Givhan's "witty, closely observed essays that transform fashion criticism into cultural criticism."
The native of Detroit, Michigan was valedictorian at Renaissance High School in 1982, graduated from Princeton University in 1986, and holds a master's degree in journalism from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. After working for the Detroit Free Press for about seven years, she held positions at the San Francisco Chronicle and Vogue magazine. She has been employed on and off with The Post for more than 10 years. She moved from New York City to Washington, D.C. in 2009 where her fashion beat was expanded to also cover First Lady Michelle Obama.
